Attachment Work

While growing up did you ever wish you had different parents? Some of the people that I work with may have (or had) parents struggling with their own mental illness, substance abuse or other issue resulting in abuse, neglect, or growing up in an overly critical or emotionally unavailable environment. This can often lead to negative patterns or behaviors in our personal lives or relationships.

This work can be very imaginative, but involves re-writing the story of your childhood so that child was able to get their emotional and sometimes physical or spiritual needs met. While it changes nothing about the past or present, it allows that "inner child's" needs to be met, calming the nervous system and creating the ability for you as a child or adult now to develop more secure and healthy attachments to others. This allows you to love yourself and others (and allow yourself to be loved) to your fullest potential.
